August 24, 2015 – Crosby & Higgins LLP Prosecutes Multiple New York and Connecticut Federal and State Court Breach of Contract and Defamation Actions for East Coast Hotel Management Company; Successfully Resolves Dispute

August 24, 2015

Crosby & Higgins LLP has successfully resolved a complex multi-state federal, state and arbitration dispute on behalf of its client, a Maryland based hotel operator. Crosby & Higgins LLP was retained after the client filed and ultimately prevailed on several arbitration claims arising from a fee dispute with a hotel that it operated. In response to the arbitration, the hotel commenced litigation in New York state court, alleging breach of fiduciary duty and defamation. After Crosby & Higgins LLP successfully secured a dismissal of the state court action, the hotel brought a duplicative lawsuit in Connecticut state court, alleging claims for defamation and invasion of privacy. Crosby & Higgins LLP promptly removed the case to federal court for the District of Connecticut, filed a motion to dismiss the complaint, and commenced an action on behalf of the client to confirm the arbitration award in federal court in New York. Thereafter, Crosby & Higgins LLP successfully negotiated a resolution of the entire dispute on behalf of its client, and all of the pending actions were dismissed with prejudice.
