James D. Crutchfield is an experienced trial attorney and serves as Of Counsel to Crosby & Higgins, LLP. Mr. Crutchfield received his law degree from Washington & Lee University and has practiced law in New York and Virginia since 1987.
Mr. Crutchfield began his legal career with Heilig, McKenry, Fraim, & Lollar, P.C. where he litigated in many substantive areas, including corporate and commercial law.
In 1991, Mr. Crutchfield affiliated with the New Orleans law firm of Evans & Co., and served for five years as senior litigation counsel in that firm's Virginia office. There he worked principally on high-stakes maritime cases, including Jones Act, shipyard & dry dock liability, and toxic torts. He also handled numerous insurance matters, including coverage and premium issues, reinsurance, and marine surveyor's errors and omissions litigation. While at Evans & Co., Mr. Crutchfield was listed by Best's Recommended Insurance Attorneys and as recommended counsel by the Virginia Owner-Operators' Association.
Since relocating to New York in 1999, Mr. Crutchfield has worked on numerous projects with some of New York ’s largest law firms, including Dewey Ballantine, Kaye Scholer, and Sullivan & Cromwell. |
